Founded in 1930, the “Schola des Petits Chanteurs de Notre-Dame de Valère” began life as an all-male choir modelled on medieval choir schools. With the creation of a girls’ choir in September 2003, the “Schola de Sion” now welcomes into its ranks all young people between the ages of 6 and 25 who are interested in the choral art. Under the impetus of its director Marc Bochud, the Schola provides a complete musical training recognized by the “Conservatoire Cantonal de Sion”. This patient training is supported throughout the year by liturgical activities, mainly in the Sacré-Coeur parish and during festive celebrations at Sion Cathedral. Various a cappella and orchestral concerts are also an important part of its activities.
