L’Arc-en-Ciel is a children’s choir founded in 1980 in Sierre by Pierre-Marie and Michèle-Andrée Epiney. Initially made up of a small group of children who mainly performed at Masses, it has evolved over the years, enriching its repertoire and diversifying its activities.
Today, Arc-en-Ciel is part of GENAC (formerly GénérationS Arc-en-Ciel), an intergenerational group of nearly 200 singers: around 60 children aged 6 to 13 and more than 130 choristers aged 13 to 77. The choir is directed by Thierry Epiney and led by Anne-Sophie Marques.
Arc-en-Ciel has a varied repertoire. With GENAC, it offers a themed concert each year at the Théâtre Les Halles, exploring French chanson, festive repertoires and musical discoveries. In 2022, to mark its 40ᵉ anniversary, the choir published a book-album entitled Passionnément, retracing its history and landmark moments.
This year, from 4 to 7 June, they will be presenting a brand new programme based around elvish, fantasy and scout songs at the Théâtre Les Halles. Tickets are available to book on the theatre’s website.
