Amelia Scicolone was born in Grenchen (SO), Switzerland. She studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, where she graduated with distinction in 2013. In 2022, Amelia Scicolone received the Music Prize of the Canton of Solothurn as recognition of her work and outstanding career. In 2019, she was awarded the Kurt and Barbara Alten Promotion Prize, and she has also been a two-time recipient of the Migros Culture Percentage scholarship, a laureate of the Friedl Wald Foundation, and the Basel Orchestra Recognition Prize.
While she was still a student, her first engagement took her to the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden where she made her debut as Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute) alongside the Berliner Philharmoniker.
Since the 2017/18 season, Amelia Scicolone has been a permanent member of the Mannheim National Theatre ensemble, where she is able to perform important roles for her career. More recently, she debuted her dream role, Zerbinetta, in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos.
Amelia Scicolone has worked with conductors such as Jesús López-Cobos, Charles Dutoit, Alessandro de Marchi, and Fabio Biondi, among others. She had the opportunity to collaborate with conductors such as Calixto Bieito, Aron Stihl, David Pountney, Jürgen Rose, Tom Ryser, and Frank Hilbrich. Important orchestras she has worked with include the Berliner Philharmoniker, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Basel Sinfonietta, Academia Montis Regalis, Kammerorchester Basel, and Festival Strings Lucerne.
