Eric Constantin is from Valais… but not exclusively. After studying literature, he migrated to Fribourg where, in parallel to his early career as a secondary school teacher, he turned to music, composing and performing his own songs.
In his thirties, he changed course a little, dividing his time between songwriting, family life (a wife and two wonderful children who are a never-ending source of inspiration for both his songs and his future radio sketches) and various collaborations, including with the Swiss Comedy Club, Marc Aymon and his uncle Bernie Constantin.
In 2017, the turning point came. He realised a dream: to join the prestigious Dicodeurs team on RTS La Première. Since then, about once a month, he has been sharing his puns and his passion for the French language, talking about his family, and shamelessly exploiting his children on air to get them to say incongruous things, surrounded by the crème de la crème of humour in French-speaking Switzerland: Nathalie Devantay, Marc Donnet-Monay and Blaise Bersinger. Shortly afterwards, he became narrator (and co-author) of musical shows for children for Crans-Montana Classics: Peter and the Wolf 2, Mozart and the Bird, American Tales (2 original shows based on Gershwin, performed in schools in Sion (VS) in November 2022).
It was Nathalie Devantay who invited him (initially believing that Eric Constantin already had a one-man show under his belt) to perform a sketch at the Bon’Boc in Saint-Prex, in the canton of Vaud, on 1 August 2022. He threw himself passionately into this new (for him) form of writing: a sketch for a one-man show. At the age of 40, another dream is coming true, and he wants to take the time to create a show that is like him, intimate but funny, where you can also learn a lot of fascinating things about French literature (si, si): “Voltaire, Rimbaud, Internet & Moi”, touring the whole of French-speaking Switzerland in 2023 and 2024.
