Armenian soprano Juliana Grigoryan is the latest winner of the Operalia World Opera Competition, as well as the Audience Prize. She also won the Grand Prize at the Stanislaw Moniuszko International Vocal Competition. Juliana Grigoryan was recently awarded the Marcella Sembrich-Kocharska Prize for the youngest finalist, the City of Katowice Gardens – Krystyna Bochenek Cultural Institution Prize and the SOI Scuola dell’Opera Italiana Fiorenza Cedolins Classical Singing Competition in 2022. She has performed with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia.
During the 23/24 season, Juliana Grigoryan joined the Lindemann Young Artist Development Programme (LYADP), where she had access to a wide range of resources and training. She makes her Metropolitan Opera debut as Liu in Turandot. She will also have the opportunity to perform in Barcelona for the Fundació Privada Victoria de Los Angeles, with the Prague Philharmonic alongside Piotr Beczala, and she returns to the Ravenna Festival for a gala concert with Riccardo Muti. Later in the season, Juliana Grigoryan also returns to Dutch National Opera for a debut role as Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.
Juliana Grigoryan’s 22/23 season included a number of debuts. She appeared with Dutch National Opera as Liu in Turandot, at Teatro alla Scala in Dvorák’s Rusalka and as Mimi in La Bohème at the Ravenna Festival. Juliana Grigoryan’s concert highlights include performances in Basel, Budapest and Venice. She opens the season with performances of Verdi’s Requiem in Ravenna with Riccardo Muti.
En 2021, Juliana Grigoryan a interprété le Magnificat de Bach avec l’Orchestre de chambre national d’Arménie et l’Orchestre de chambre d’État d’Erevan. Elle a chanté la 9e Symphonie de Beethoven avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique Arménien, avec lequel elle a ensuite effectué une tournée en République tchèque et en Italie. Elle a terminé la saison 2021-2022 avec un premier rôle de Zemphira dans Aleko de Rachmaninov avec le Théâtre académique national arménien d’opéra et de ballet. En septembre 2021, elle s’est produite lors d’un concert consacré à l’indépendance de la République d’Arménie qui s’est tenu sur la place de la République à Erevan.
Juliana Grigoryan est titulaire d’une maîtrise du Conservatoire d’État d’Erevan et est membre de leur programme d’opéra pour jeunes artistes. Parmi les prix dont elle a reçu figurent le 1° Premio cat Opera, le Premio speciale Opera Erfurt, le Premio Speciale Teatre National di Capitole de Toulouse, le Premio Speciale Fondazione Festival Pucciniano di Torre de Lago, la Partecipazione Gratuita alla Puccini Festival Academy 2023, le Premio Special Teatre Real. di Madrid per i Vincitori, Audizioni, Premio Speciale Teatre de la Maestranza di Siviglia, Audizioni, Elenco Premi 1° Concorso di Canto Lirico Virtuale SOI Scuola dell’Opera Italiana Fioenza Cedolins 2022.
En 2024, elle reçoit le prestigieux Prix Hilde Behrens, à l’occasion du 87eanniversaire de Behrens.
