Stéphane Stas was born in Belgium and spent the first forty years of his life there, before being irrevocably drawn to the magic of the Valais mountains. A multi-talented artist, he never stops creating and surprising.
A graduate pianist from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in the class of his teacher, Pascal Sigrist, he also trained as a classical singer and narrator. A popular young chamber musician, he soon turned his attention to French chanson. A singer-songwriter, often considered the spiritual son of Michel Berger, he won several competitions… But it was in a completely different genre that he really came to the public’s attention: singing without words.
Neo-classically inspired, using his counter-tenor voice as an instrument, his “Sine Nomine Cantus” appeal to listeners in search of soothing, healing music. He has also created a musical, collaborated on a wide range of artistic projects, nurtured a large number of students following his original teaching methods, recorded seven CDs, and written a philosophical-psycho-spiritual essay.
His recent adaptations for the stage of Frédéric Lenoir’s ‘L’Âme du monde’ and Eckhart Tolle’s ‘Le Pouvoir du moment présent’ mark a major turning point in his artistic development and give him new inspiration.
