Thierry Epiney trained as a composer at the HEM in Geneva. Wishing to deepen his knowledge of the relationship between music and the media, he continued his training at the HEA in Zürich (ZHdK), where he obtained a second master’s degree in film, theatre and media composition.
His musical palette ranges from orchestral music to electro. He has written the symphonic music for the Sion en lumières show, composed for circuses (Starlight and Monti), films, theatre and advertising. Keen to get back on stage, he set up the Tikom project, a luminous electro project that has just released its album, Conscience, a blend of shamanic voices, ethnic instruments and electro.
Always wanting to surprise himself and exceed the expectations of the sponsor, he defines himself as an explorer as well as a composer. He will shortly be composing for the opening ceremony of the Mountain Bike World Cup to be held in Valais in August.
Alongside his activities as a composer, he directs three choirs with very distinct identities: GENAC (GénérationS Arc-en-Ciel) in Sierre, the men’s choir l’Echo in Miège, and La Cæcilia in Chippis, for whom he staged Carmina Burana in 2022 in collaboration with the Orchestre Valaisan Amateur. Enjoying large-scale projects, he has conducted several works with orchestra, including Follat’Era, a film music workshop, Guy Kummer’s Au pays de l’ailleurs and Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater, The Healer, Symphonic Adiemus and Requiem.
